104GALERIE (Nakameguro, Tokyo) is holding a group exhibition showcasing some of the artists it represents, opening on June 12th (Fri.). This exhibition features work by painters Asa Hiramatsu, Pius Fox, and Rudy Cremonini. It takes the new work of Hiramatsu and Fox as its fulcrum, and through the individual perspectives of each artist with their distinct cultural backgrounds, aims to present the multifarious possibilities and ever-extending expressions of contemporary painting.

Asa Hiramatsu

Asa Hiramatsu was born in 1982 in Tokyo. She began exhibiting work in 2012, and since then has focused on the exhibition of her paintings. Her work explores her inner landscape, with recurring motifs such as clouds and see-saws.
She also works as an illustrator for newspapers, magazines, and books. In 2023 and 2024, she participated as an artist in residence at Saul Leiter’s studio in New York, and she contributed an essay to the book Saul Leiter: The Centennial Retrospective (Thames & Hudson, 2023). Her solo exhibition TO BE CLOUD is currently being held at SEIZAN Gallery New York, US (until July 2nd 2026).

Pius Fox

Pius Fox was born in Berlin, Germany in 1983, and after graduating from UdK Berlin (Berlin University of the Arts) with a BA obtained under Frank Badur, he went on to complete an MA under Pia Fries in 2010. Today he is based in Berlin, but holds many solo and group exhibitions in major cities including New York, London, and Paris. His work has been acquired by the Albers Foundation (US), Frac Auvergne (France), SØR Rusche (Germany), Von der Heydt Museum (Germany), and the Museum Kunstpalast (Germany) amongst others, indicating his international reputation.
The methods and mediums he deploys in his painting expression vary, which has enabled him to build a unique sphere of art. This exhibition features six pieces created with the tempera technique that utilize aluminium.

Rudy Cremonini

Rudy Cremonini was born in Bologna, Italy in 1981. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Bologna and works in the same region, producing artwork exploring the personal emptiness and solitude that exist in anyone’s mind, or a sense of sarcasm that is brought along by those feelings.
His major exhibitions include Four Minutes After Sunset (Capsule Shanghai, Shanghai, China, 2025), Nessun Dorma (Reggia di Caserta, Italy, 2018), The Club (Galerie Thomas Fuchs, Stuttgart, Germany, 2017), and The Burning Island (City Museum of Belgrade, Serbia, 2017) among others, and he has been involved in many international solo and group exhibitions in countries such as the U.S., France, Germany, and of course Italy, gaining high acclaim internationally.
