Donata Wenders

Donata Wenders was born in 1965 in Berlin. Having studied film and theatre in Berlin and Stuttgart, she he began her career as a photographic artist in 1995. Since then, she has worked with writers like Siri Hustvedt and Peter Handke, artist Reiko Ikemura, and fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto, creating numerous documentary pieces. She has worked as a stills photographer for the films directed by her husband, Wim Wenders, to create photographic records, and has also expressed moments she captured in communication with her subjects in her own artistic work.
Her major works include Pina (2012), Don’t Come Knocking (2005) and Buena Vista Social Club (2002), among others. The work of Donata Wenders has been exhibited in museums and galleries across Europe, including Germany and France, as well as in the US, Japan, and South Korea.
Her work was first introduced at 104GALERIE in 2022, in a group show alongside Robert Bosisio, and in December last year we exhibited her film work related to the movie “PERFECT DAYS”, directed by her husband Wim Wenders. It attracted an overwhelming number of visitors.
